Recently I’ve been challenge with a question. What does my one voice mean? Nelson Mandela is a perfect inspiration to answer this nagging question. His one voice change hatred and injustice and brought a light to many oppressed people. Did he ever ask himself what his voice means or did he just refuse to accept the silence in the crowd?

I am struggling with this question today. Does my voice matter? If it were silenced by myself or another would it matter? Do I make a difference in the sea of humanity who use silence as their language choice? I’ve tried to silence my own voice and today still dwell on it. Does my voice matter in the sea of silence when the problems are heard right in front of your eyes?

This is dedicated to many great men in my life. My father, my brothers, my son and TJ. It’s dedicated to the great women in my life, my mother, Sarah, and my sisters. It’s dedicated to everyone fighting to be heard in a sea of people attempting to drown you out. For those whose passion has changed the hearts and minds of those around them like Nelson Mandela. For those who stand tall even when they question. What does my voice mean?

One voice

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I were to silence my own voice.
Would it matter?
Would it change anything?
What does my one voice mean?

What does one voice mean?
In a crowded sea of people where silence is the language of choice.
What can one voice achieve?
When no one will see the problems right in front of their eyes.

And I wonder what the world would hear.
If people were to listen.
Would they hear what’s most important?
Or would they just block it out?

What does one voice mean?
In a crowded sea of people where silence is the language of choice.
What can one voice achieve?
When no one will hear the problems right in front of their eyes.

What can one voice achieve?
In a crowded sea of people where silence is the language of choice.
What can one voice achieve?
When no one will see the problems right in front of their eyes.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I were to silence my own voice.
